The Winnipeg Jets have been the talk of the NHL in the early going of the 2024-25 season. Winnipeg has not only been the best in their division but the best in the entire league. They have set an NHL record by winning 14 of their first 15 games to begin the season.

Jets clicking on all cylinders

Not one single Jets player is responsible for this historic start. Every player on the Winnipeg roster is doing something special and it is showing in the standings. After defeating the Dallas Stars 4-1 on Saturday night, the Jets have put the league on notice. Everything is clicking for them and they have become a force in all three zones.

One of the reasons for the teams magnificent start has been goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. His record sits at 11-1 with a goals-against-average of 1.83 and a save percentage of .935. These are only numbers found in video games. He is first in the NHL in wins (11), third in shots against (341), second in saves (319), and fourth in goals-against- average (1.83). His is unbeatable right now and he is more focused than ever to bring a Stanley Cup to the Jets organization. His stats speak for themselves and have him as one of the early favorites for the Vezina Torphy, awarded to the league's best goaltender.

Another reason for Winnipeg's hot start is the offense. They are first in goals scored (67), first in goals scored per game (4.47), and the power play is operating at a 41.9% clip. Every line is contributing to the scoresheet and is creating offense on every shift. Forward Kyle Connor has nine goals and 10 assists while Mark Scheifele has seven goals and 12 assists as they are tied for team scoring with 19 points.

The defense has been incredible too. They are suffocating the opposition as soon as they hit the blue line and are getting to the puck fast in their own zone to clear the puck. The defense as a whole is allowing the second-fewest goals per game (2.07) and has allowed the second fewest goals this season (31).

Winnipeg has something special going on. Every team in the NHL wants to have a hot start to begin the season and the Jets are doing something that nobody saw coming. They are destroying the competition and it is not close. Will this unbelievable run last? Who knows, but they are putting on a display whenever they take the ice. Everything the touch is going in the net and whenever the opposition touches the puck they are getting denied. Quite a historic start for the Jets.
