With just about one-and-a-half months to go until Olympic hockey kicks off at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Team Canada has unveiled the 25-player roster that will make up their men's hockey entry.
Some of the more notable players included is San Jose Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini (Vancouver, British Columbia), who sits in third in the NHL in points. He is also just nine points behind league-leading Connor McDavid (Newmarket, Ontario), who was also included in Team Canada's roster.
Among the league's remaining top point-scorers, Nathan MacKinnon (Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia), who is second in the NHL in scoring, will make his Olympic debut after helping Canada to gold in February's Four Nations Faceoff.
Earlier this week, it was leaked that Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki (London, Ontario), who is tied for ninth in the NHL in assists, had made the Canadian Olympic roster. Wednesday's announcement confirmed that Nick Suzuki had indeed made the team.
In terms of veteran presence, Sidney Crosby (Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia), who scored the iconic gold-medal-winning goal at the Vancouver Olympics, will make the Olympic roster alongside former Boston Bruin Brad Marchand (Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia), who recently won the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers after being traded to Sunrise at the trade deadline.
Other NHL veterans on the Canadian Olympic roster include Mark Stone (Winnipeg, Manitoba), who was a franchise cornerstone as a member of the Ottawa Senators and more recently helped lead the Vegas Golden Knights to their first Stanley Cup in 2023, and defenceman Drew Doughty (London, Ontario), who has been a key cog in the Los Angeles Kings' defensive machine and who also won two Stanley Cups with the Kings.
On the topic of NHL defencemen, Cale Makar (Calgary, Alberta), who is seventh in the NHL in assists and who played a key role in the Colorado Avalanche's run to the Stanley Cup in 2022, will be part of Team Canada's eight-man defensive unit. That defensive unit also includes Josh Morrissey (Calgary, Alberta) and Cale Makar teammate Devon Toews (Abbotsford, British Columbia).
Canada's goaltending unit is highlighted by Logan Thompson (Calgary, Alberta), who is tenth in the NHL in save percentage and ninth in goals against per game.
Players who were not selected to the Canadian Olympic roster include Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard (North Vancouver, British Columbia) and Dallas Stars forward Wyatt Johnston (Toronto, Ontario).
The men's Olympic hockey tournament will get underway on February 11th, 2026 when Finland plays Slovakia and Italy takes on Sweden. The Canadian team will start their tournament the following day when they take on Czechia at the Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena.
