It's been a big couple of years for "Biz Nasty." Earlier this week, it was announced that ex-NHL player/Arizona Coyotesbroadcaster Paul Bissonnette would receive a multi-year contract extension to keep him on the same in-game panel as the likes of Wayne Gretzky.
The news of the extension was first announced by Front Office Sports.
Alongside his continued work on the pregame and intermission panel for TNT, Paul Bissonnette will also earn some time as an in-game commentator. He recently made his debut as a commentator for TNT during Wednesday's broadcast of the game between the Buffalo Sabres and the Philadelphia Flyers.
From my viewing of that Sabres-Flyers game, it's safe to say Bissonnette enjoyed both a fun and painful debut as a TNT commentator.
Outside of Bissonnette's work for the TNT panel, he's been a part of the Spittin' Chiclets podcast - operated by BarStool Sports - since 2017, contributing to its rise as one of the biggest hockey podcasts at this stage in time. The success that Bissonnette and his Spittin' Chiclets co-hosts - Ryan Whitney and ex-Florida Panther Keith Yandle - experienced since 2017 was rewarded recently by Netflix, which recently brought the podcast onto the streaming service.
It's also worth noting Paul Bissonnette's love for a good fight ... both on and off the ice. Not only did Bissonnette log almost 350 penalty minutes throughout his career, but he's also drawn the ire of several NHL icons during his time with TNT thus far. Whether it's chirping Brad Marchand or wrestling Buoy, the Seattle Kraken's mascot, Paul Bissonnette successfully transferred his knack for fighting towards his work for TNT in several notable ways.
The next NHL on TNT broadcast is scheduled for Monday, January 19th and will feature two afternoon games. The first will see the Buffalo Sabres play the Carolina Hurricanes, while the mid-afternoon game will see Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals travel to take on the league-leading Colorado Avalanche.
