3 teams that should trade for Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras
There are a few teams that should be calling the Anaheim Ducks about Trevor Zegras.
There has been a lot going on in the world of the Anaheim Ducks recently. They acquired Cutter Gauthier a few days ago and it put the hockey world in a spin.
There has been a lot of drama that came from this transaction but the Ducks are not guilty of anything bad. All they did was get a player that didn't want to be in his former organization.
Jamie Drysdale was the player that went back to Philly and they are rallying around him now. The Ducks will miss him but they hope to have some good times with Gauthier in the future.
One fallout rumor that came from all this is the fact that the Ducks might now be willing to trade Trevor Zegras. Is that a good idea? It will be a while before we know the answer to either of those questions.
For now, it is fun to think about who makes sense for Zegras. These are the three teams that should be in on him if he's available:
The Philadelphia Flyers should consider adding Trevor Zegras now
Trevor Zegras and Jamie Drysdale became very close during their time together in Anaheim. Zegras made his opinion of losing Drysdale in a trade known after it happened.
Well, reuniting them in Philly would be good for everyone. The Flyers have good assets that they could send the Ducks for him and Zegras would get in a good situation for himself.
The Flyers have a gap in their organizational forward depth now that Gauthier is gone and Zegras might be able to fill it. He is incredibly flashy and can score at a high level.
He has had over 60 points more than once in his NHL career and he is still in his early 20s. He has the talent, if he can stay healthy, to put up superstar numbers.
Zegras is already a star in terms of entertainment value. He scores highlight reel goals and was already on the EA Sports NHL cover. He'd be perfect in a market like Philly.
Trevor Zegras on the Boston Bruins right now would be so much fun
The Anaheim Ducks and Boston Bruins have come together for some trades over the last handful of years. Now might be a time for another big one.
The Boston Bruins lost Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci during the off-season which caused them to have a lack of center depth coming into this year.
They have managed to be a very good team still with Charlie Coyle and Pavel Zacha as their top two centers.
A lot of it has to do with how great their goaltending and defense are but their great group of wingers do a good job of supporting the centerman. It isn't hard to play center with David Pastrnak or Brad Marchand skating on your line.
With all of that in mind, it would be cool to see Zegras join this group. He went to Boston University so this would be a bit of a homecoming for him if he came to the Bruins.
Boston would have to clear up some cap room for him but that is something that could easily be done. For a player like this, it would be worth it. If there were a team that could put him in the best position to take advantage of all those skills, it would be the Bruins.
The Washington Capitals could use a player like Trevor Zegras
The Washington Capitals have been surprisingly good this season. They aren't playoff locks but they aren't a lottery team like many thought they'd be.
Alexander Ovechkin has been the face of the franchise (and one of the faces of the league) for a long time now. He is within striking distance of Wayne Gretzky's all-time goals record but he isn't scoring at his typical pace.
He doesn't play with Evgeny Kuznetsov anymore and his chemistry with Dylan Strome is still a work in progress. If you put Ovechkin with Zegras though, they'd connect right away.
Zegras is so special when it comes to making plays and you have to think that Ovechkin would benefit from playing with a guy like that.
Seeing the Capitals make a move like this would be so exciting for hockey fans in general. The Capitals would be a better team but he would also improve Ovechkin's goal-scoring game as he ages.
There are a couple of honorable mentions worth saying but the Colorado Avalanche seems like the first one to talk about. They could use a high-end second-line center behind Nathan MacKinnon.
The only reason it is a mention rather than being on the list is the fact that it is very hard to see the Ducks trading Zegras within the West. They want to transition out of their rebuild soon and Colorado surely is a team that could stand in their way.
