Colorado Avalanche vs Dallas Stars is living up to the hype
Coming into the second round, most people saw the matchup between the Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche as the most intriguing.
These are two of the best two teams in the NHL and they come from the same Central Division. They have had many good battles all season but nothing compares to the playoffs.
Game one lived up to the hype. It looked like it was going to be bad as the Stars took a 3-0 lead in the game. Colorado, to its credit, battled back and forced overtime.
In the overtime period, the Avalanche survived an early Stars onslaught and won the game. Miles Wood found himself on a breakaway and he scored.
The Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche have been very entertaining
In game two, the Stars got off to a hot start. This time, it was 4-0 in their favor but Colorado stormed back to score three unanswered again.
Although they had a power play with the goalie pulled in the final minutes of the game, they were unable to tie it up this time.
Dallas threw one into the empty net and won 5-3. That fourth goal proved to be the difference for the Stars as it would have been in game one.
Now, this incredible matchup is tied 1-1 heading back to Denver. The Avalanche were the best home team in the league this season which makes it interesting but the Stars aren't worried about that regular season stat.
All of the stars have come to play in this series. Each team has huge household names that come to mind when you think of the best players in the sport.
Both games started in favor of the Stars but saw the Avalanche ferociously come back. Expect the unexpected when the rest of the series gets going in Denver.
Based on how each team has played this season, it would only be right if it ended in game seven. You'd get some incredible hockey if that were to happen. The games leading up to it are going to be intense. As of now, this series is going according to the projected script.
