The National Hockey League changed things up for All-Star Weekend this year. It was much needed as they needed something to spice it up again.

The first-ever All-Star Thursday took place. The night led off with the Player Draft to determine which all-stars would be on which teams.

Connor McDavid teamed up with Will Arnett and Leon Draisaitl to select the players for Team McDavid.

Auston Matthews teamed up with Morgan Rielly and Justin Bieber to select the players for Team Matthews.

Jack Hughes and Quinn Hughes teamed up with Elias Pettersson and Michael Buble to select players for Team Hughes.

Finally, Nathan MacKinnon was with Cale Makar and Tate McRae as they came together to select the players for Team MacKinnon.

The Player Draft was a very fun part of the 2024 NHL All-Star weekend

Nikita Kucherov was the first overall pick in this draft. Frank Vatrano, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Tomas Hertl, and Vincent Trocheck were the last four players taken. It was incredibly interesting to see these guys make their picks and treat it like fantasy hockey but in real life.

All of these teams are loaded with talent. There are a few players drafted by their teammates too which makes it very fun. Both William Nylander and Mitch Marner were drafted by Team Matthews while Jesper Bratt was drafted by Team Hughes by his linemate Jack Hughes.

Team Hughes also selected a lot of Quinn Hughes's Vancouver Canucks teammates like Brock Boeser, Thatcher Demko, and J.T. Miller.

Speaking of the Canucks, Elias Lindholm wore his brand-new Vancouver sweater a day after being traded there by the Calgary Flames. Celebrity captain and noted Flames fan Tate McRae made sure to have him selected for Team MacKinnon so she could have him on her team one more time.

There was a lot of fun at this event. Hopefully, the players have a good time at the skills competition and the actual 3-on-3 tournament. Hockey is the best sport on earth and deserves to be celebrated.
