The Philadelphia Flyers are having a surprisingly good season. It felt like they might be a team going for Macklin Celebrini coming into the year but John Tortorella has them playing above expectations.

Now, however, they are in the middle of the biggest story in the hockey world right now. They traded Cutter Gauthier to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Jamie Drysdale and a second-round pick.

This trade isn't your typical hockey transaction either. This stirred up a ton of drama across the hockey world.

Cutter Gauthier made it clear that he doesn't want to be a Flyer in his career. This was kept bundled up and a trade was eventually made.

The Philadelphia Flyers didn't hold back on telling the truth about this trade

When the trade first came out, it was hard to understand what the Flyers were doing. Drysdale is a very good young defenseman but there have been some injury issues.

Gauthier has been incredible with Boston College which has driven his stock up as well. In addition to that, he led Team USA in scoring en route to a World Juniors Gold Medal over the last few weeks.

Now that we know that he didn't want to be a Flyer though, it makes a lot more sense. The Flyers did what they had to do and a great young defenseman is coming in.

The Flyers were going up against the Pittsburgh Penguins as this news started to break. That made just about everybody involved available to talk about it at one point or another.

We heard from Keith Jones, Danny Briere, and John Tortorella and they all made one thing clear. If you don't want to be a Flyer, you won't be. They deserve tremendous respect.

There isn't an organization more proud of its culture right now than the Philadelphia Flyers. They believe in what they are building and it is starting to show on the ice. Now, they have this to bring them together even more.

They didn't hold the truth back. They kind of had to be truthful based on the current status of Gauthier as a player. He is incredible and promises to be a good NHL player. However, it is hard to have a lot of faith in him if he straight up doesn't want to be on your team.

Drysdale is going to be very good now that he is healthy. It should be fun watching him make his Flyers debut in the coming days. Gauthier won't be a Duck this season unless he gets into a few games once BC is done. Their matchup next season should be elite television.
