Sidney Crosby's comments are not good for the Pittsburgh Penguins
Sidney Crosby's comments are not good for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are not a team used to being sellers at the trade deadline. This year, however, they were forced to be due to their spot in the standings. They traded Jake Guentzel to the Carolina Hurricanes for picks, prospects, and Michael Bunting.
You can debate whether or not the return that they got is good enough but that isn’t the point. This is a winning organization that all of a sudden looks like they’ve lost their way. Sidney Crosby is aware of what’s going on right now.
He did not seem happy when I asked about the trade and you have to wonder what his thoughts will be on the situation in the future. Sidney Crosby has been the catalyst for the Penguins as he will go down as one of the greatest players ever.
His comments suggested that he disagreed with the Penguins' direction. He said that any questions revolving around their situation should be asked to the front office instead of him.
The Pittsburgh Penguins and Sidney Crosby are not in a great spot
If he is not happy with upper management, that is not gonna be a good situation going forward. He liked having Jake Guentzel as a teammate and was annoyed that they were sellers at the deadline.
Right or wrong, Crosby just wants to win. There is nothing more important to him when it comes to the game of hockey. If he doesn’t have a chance to win, he is going to be upset with the situation.
Sid is currently having one of the best 36-year-old seasons in the history of the league. His days of winning the Hart Trophy or the Art Ross may be over but he’s still a top player in the world.
We don’t know what the direction of the Penguins (or Crosby) is going to be over the next few years but rebuilding certainly wouldn’t sit well with him. That is especially true as long as Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang are still there playing well.
This was as outspoken as Crosby has been negatively. You may hear more of that if the Penguins don’t start turning things around. He just wants to win.
