Tampa Bay Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning are searching for a new captain after forward Steven Stamkos left via free agency to the Nashville Predators this off-season. The next captain will be the 11th in franchise history and maybe the most important as they head into a critical time in their history. A prominent franchise who has won Stanley Cups, Tampa Bay is one of the more successful franchises over the last 10 years.

Victor Hedman

Defenseman Victor Hedman is an elite player on the back end and has been a top-tier player since he debuted with the franchise in 2009-10. The massive defenseman is a two-way player with a physical stlye of play and the size to shut down the opposition as an imposing figure. His play over his career is something to take note of. One of the best defensemen in the league today, and he would make a great captain.

Nikita Kucherov

Forward NIkita Kucherov has been one of the elite players in the league over the past few seasons and ranks among the best in point production. A somewhat controversial figure, he lets his play on the ice speak for itself and continues to lead the lightning in offensive production. He could be the next captain of the Lightning and it would not be a sutrprise.

Ryan McDonagh

Defenseman Ryan McDonagh returns to Tampa Bay after two years with the Predators, bringing experience and vetern leadership to the team. He served as captain of the New York Rangers form 2018 until he was traded to the Lightning in 2018. He is steady on the ice and has a calmness about him when the times are tough. Could resume captain duties with the Lightning this season.
