Chicago Blackhawks

A storied franchise who are an original six team, they are looking for the next player to lead their team on the ice. A franchise with many great captains, the Blackhawks are now ready to choose their next leader before the opening of the 2024-25 season, but who will it be? Three candidates are listed below.

Connor Bedard

Going into his second NHL season, Connor Bedard showed how much he means to this organization. He lets his play speak for itself and he is always talking to his teammates. He is the future of this Blackhawks team, and it would make sense for him to be named the youngest captain in the NHL today.

Nick Foligno

The do everything forward for Chicago, Nick Foligno was on a line with Bedard for most of the season, and casually taught him the way to play the NHL game, and how to react in certain situations. He is a veteran influence and helps guide his teammates during the game. An experienced player with strong communication skills, he would be a great choice for captain.

Alex Martinez

A defenseman who is vocal in the locker room and on the bench, Alec Martinez is the hearbeat of the defense. A two-time Stanley Cup champion, he knows what it takes to win. A teacher on the ice, he has developed into a steady influence on the younger players, while assisting the veterans on their gameplay. He is a great leader who could wear a letter next season.
