The NCAA has a great product with college hockey. The NHL has a lot of amazing players coming from that league in the coming years and it makes it even more exciting to watch.
Conference championship weekend was last week and we saw some incredible matchups. There were some unsurprising winners and a few upsets which made it as entertaining as it could be.
Now, we are set for the NCAA Tournament between the top 16 teams in the country. Every team participating earned their spot and should be proud.
The NCAA Tournament is going to be must-see TV in the coming weeks
Boston College is facing Michigan Tech, Wisconsin is facing Quinnipiac, Michigan State is facing Western Michigan, North Dakota is facing Michigan, Denver is facing Umass, Maine is facing Cornell, Boston University is facing RIT, and Minnesota is facing Omaha to open the first round.
There are some interesting matchups there that could go either way. There are also a few matchups that have a superior team trying to avoid being upset in a big way.
For Boston College, not at least making it to the Frozen Four would be a bust. Boston University probably feels the same way. With some of the stars that they have on those rosters, they should be able to go on a deep run. BC beat BU for the Hockey East crown last weekend.
Quinnipiac is the defending National Champion. Will they be able to repeat or come close? Well, they would have to get through that Boston College monster to just make the Frozen Four. It is going to be tough.
Will Michigan State, who was the Big Ten champion in the regular season and the tournament, be able to find their way to the Frozen Four? It is a tall task for them with WMU, ND, and Michigan in their region.
These games are sure to be close and loaded with storylines. Who is going to earn a trip to St. Paul, Minnesota to play for the National Championship in the Frozen Four?
