This Florida Panthers rink change embraces the team's status as defending champs
Rarely do teams make a change to their design as a result of winning, but the Florida Panthers are changing that entering the 2024-25 NHL Season.
The Florida Panthers shocked the hockey world when they won the Stanley Cup in 2024. Now entering the new season, the team has made a change to the ice they most recently won on.
The Florida Panthers made a major change to their center ice logo entering the new season.
The Florida Panthers won its first Stanley Cup in franchise this past season when they defeated the Edmonton Oilers in Game 7 at home. For the Panthers, it was the end of a season where they were destined to win. After losing to the Vegas Golden Knights in 2023, Florida just looked like the team to win it all most of last season.
To celebrate their win, the Florida Panthers have changed their center ice logo to reflect their championship status. The Panthers logo will also feature the pattern of the inside of the Stanley Cup.
This is a great move by the organization to honor their Stanley Cup win all season. It is always a good thing to seem teams embrace their Stanley Cup status and this move by the Panthers will be fun for fans to see this season.
The Panthers are not the first team to do this. Last season the Vegas Golden Knights played the 2023-24 NHL Season with a center ice logo that also honored their status as champions.
I do think the Panthers version is a little better done, but I hope teams continue to embrace style changes like this in the future.
The Panthers are the defending Stanley Cup Champions, and now they will defend their title on the ice — with a faceoff at center ice honoring the iconic logo.
Maybe down the line teams will put a silver line through their jerseys to showcase the Stanley Cup or alter their logo to showcase their Stanley Cup win.
