The Detroit Red Wings have announced their quarter-century team consisting of the best players in the organization over the past 25 years.

Each roster consists of three forwards, two defenseman, and one goaltender who played with the franchise from January 1, 2000- December 31, 2024. The teams were selected by broadcasters, NHL.com writers, former players, and local writers for that specific team.

Over the last 25 years, the Red Wings have posted a record of 972-663-46-215 for 2,205 points. They won two Stanley Cups (2001-02, 2007-08) and have had six head coaches and two general managers. Below are the first-and second-teams along with the players stats during the last 25 years.

First Team

F- Pavel Datsyuk (953 games 314 goals-604 assists-928 points) F-Steve Yzerman (197 53-108-161) F-Henrik Zetterberg (1,082 337-623-960) D-Niklas Kronwall (953 83-349-423) D-Nicklas Lidstrom (871 155-536-691) G-Chris Osgood (271 121-58-33, .899 save percentage, 2.68 goals against-average)

Second Team

F-Sergei Fedorov (236 99-121-220) F- Dylan Larkin (700 233-318-551) F-Brendan Shanahan (322 169-190-359) D-Chris Chelios (497 18-100-118) D-Brian Rafalski (292 35-169-204) G-Dominik Hasek (176 114-39-19, .911 save percentage, ,213 goals against-average)

This is one of the premier list of the quarter-century teams that have been revealed. In total, there are eight Hockey Hall of Famers on the first-and second-list (Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Yzerman, Shanahan, Lidstrom, Chelios, Fedorov, and Hasek). Larkin may be a future Hall of Famer when his times comes, as he may be under the most pressure to win in the playoffs. Rafalski is not in the Hall of Fame but it is not for his lack of play. On July 7, 2007, he signed with Detroit as a free agent and went on to produce almost a point per game as a defenseman. Osgood is also not in the Hall of Fame but he was elite during his time as a Red Wing and was crucial in the playoffs.

Detroit, once an elite organization with elite talent, is still fighting the fact they have been struggling as of late. They have made strides and may have another elite roster, but they do have talent that could be on the next list of Detroit's quarter-century team. Moritz Seider, Lucas Raymond, and Alex DeBrincat may be the ones to watch when the next teams are released. The two rosters above could go toe to toe with any of the other rosters during that time. They were elite and they knew it.
