The Calgary Flames team evaluation through 2024/25

The Calgary Flames opened up the season on a high note that gave the city of Calgary a hope of doing well this year. As the year has progressed and there now being four months of hockey left, we will take you through an evaluation of the roster and club, overall.

The Calgary Flames are a team that has had its ups and downs this season. Currently sitting at fifth in the Pacific Division, the team has many decisions to make as of this upcoming week and what strategy to utilize to attract players to the city of Calgary.

This effort alone would maximize the team rivaling the Edmonton Oilers and once again bring back the Battle of Alberta. What aspect, however, will the Flames management, particularly GM Craig Conroy focus on the most?

Who would be on the chopping block, and what type of quality players is the team looking to bring in? The organization alone has a lot of work to do. Critically, of the roster in general and how the chemistry amongst players will take shape as we head towards playoffs.

This will define the Flames' needs to create a dominant team and take charge of their future. The team possesses massive amounts of talent. However, the chemistry is not clicking as it should, and that carries more risks down the stretch.

Where are the Calgary Flames heading?

The Flames are taking too much time to adjust the roster at this stage. Making a significant difference in the next two weeks will tell other GMs that Conroy isn't here to play around and is focusing on keep the Flames competitive.

The team has plenty of options to utilize, even if the player has significant value. This would help the temporary rebuild and give the organization a fresh approach to playing the game of hockey in Calgary.

The Flames organization is somewhat headed down a spiral all too familiar amongst their fanbase. A coaching change or player acquisition would be ideal to pick up the slack. Draft picks may even complement the moves to ensure the future is bright.

The Calgary Flames are a productively great team. The need now is to upgrade the roster to be more competitive and ready for the postseason grind.
