16. Montreal Canadiens - Cole Reschny
Reschny is the type of player known to be a threat no matter where he is on the ice: down low, in the slot, or even in the defensive zone. The center coming out of the WHL's Victoria Royals does all of the little things right and it translates to his offense, with an explosive 66 assists and 92 points in 62 games this year.
Next season, Reschny is joining the elite NCAA team at University of North Dakota. That will give him the opportunity to further refine the details in his game. With his tremendous hockey IQ, Reschny would be a great addition to Montreal's group of center prospects and is probably another two years out from his NHL debut.
17. Montreal Canadiens - Cameron Reid
Similar to the Penguins, if Montreal chooses to hang on to pick No. 17, it only makes sense to spread the love to both forwards and defenseman. Reid is the best blueliner available at this point of the draft, and for good reason.
He is capable of quarterbacking the power play, and his quick feet allow him to effectively exit the zone and spark rush attempts for his team. Reid is an offensive-minded defender that has the speed to get back when he has to.
18. Calgary Flames - Braeden Cootes
The Flames are in need of more center depth in the prospect pool, and Cootes is the perfect solution. He plays a competitive game marked by his work ethic that allows him to become a "one-man forecheck" in the zone.
Cootes is an effective netfront presence that loves to jump on loose pucks to make plays for his linemates. The captain of the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds recorded 63 points in 60 games this season as a reliable skater that can play in any role he's needed. His high energy level and skilled passing ability would undoubtedly be an asset for the Flames.
19. St. Louis Blues - Justin Carbonneau
As a power forward, Carbonneau might fall from his projected rank at No. 16 down to the Blues at No. 19, and the team would certainly be glad he did. The winger out of the QMJHL's Blainville-Boisbriand Armada tallied 46 goals and 89 points in 62 games this year.
Carbonneau is effective at finding passing lanes or even creating them physically when he has to, with a lethal shot to finish the play. He is able to weave in and out of skaters looking to put himself in the best position possible to receive the puck, but he can just as well play the body in order to gain possession.
20. Columbus Blue Jackets - Jack Nesbitt
The Jackets targeted a defenseman at No. 14 so using the 20th pick to select a forward would be in the team's best interest, and this center fits the bill. Nesbitt has been ranked as high as No. 17 and as low as No. 28 by different outlets, but he brings an impressive two-way game that could balance out the forward corps nicely for Columbus.
The 6'4", 185 lb forward brings a level of physicality that the Jackets would love to bring on board. Nesbitt describes himself as a Jamie Benn type of player, someone with a smart hockey sense that can see the ice well and use his body to turn the tide in favor of his team.
