Former NHL forward Wojtek Wolski, 30, is in intensive care in a Russian hospital after crashing head-first awkwardly into the boards during a game Thursday. He reportedly broke the fourth and seventh cervical vertebrae, while also suffering a concussion. Wolski is in good spirits, and hopes to make a return late in the KHL season. [Canoe]

Boston Bruins at Toronto Maple Leafs, 7pm (est)
The Bruins are coming off a win. Brad Marchand had five points, David Pastrnak with four, while rookie Brandon Carlo was a plus-5 with one assist. On the other side, rookie sensation Auston Matthews is looking for an encore performance after his record four-goal debut.
Detroit Red Wings at Florida Panthers, 7pm (est)
It might be early in the season, but these divisional match-ups are important regardless the time of year. Here are two teams that will likely be battling it out for a playoff spot. The injury-riddled Panthers are coming off a high with Thursday’s OT win.

In the second of a home-and-home series, game two shifts to Chicago. Nashville won the opener on Friday thanks to a three-point effort from Ryan Johansen and two points from Roman Josi and Mike Fisher.

The Colorado Avalanche are coming off a perfect 6-0 preseason under new head coach Jared Bednar. Dallas won their first game at home on Thursday defeating the Anaheim Ducks 4-2.
Philadelphia Flyers at Arizona Coyotes, 9pm (est)
Coming off a 4-2 win against Los Angeles on Friday night, the Flyers look to take down the Arizona Coyotes. The Yotes are playing their first game of the season and will be without rookie Dylan Strome.
