NHL Daily Fantasy Sports: DFS Picks/Lineup of the Day – 9 games are on the schedule tonight. Dallas heads to Broadway to take on the Rangers, Carolina travels to Columbus, Toronto plays host to Buffalo, Ottawa takes on St. Louis, Minnesota welcomes the New Jersey Devils, Florida faces off against Calgary, Colorado is at home to Chicago, the Predators look for road points in Vancouver, and Anaheim squares off with Tampa Bay.
NHL daily fantasy sports (DFS) continues to grow in popularity despite the uncertainty surrounding the industry. Companies like Fan Duel and Draft Kings are still immersed in legal battles and in turn are unable to offer their services in certain American states.
Even with restrictions, the DFS community continues to thrive and in likelihood will emerge victorious when all is said and done. Just think of the way fantasy sports, in general, has evolved over the last 15-20 years. Daily fantasy sports is just the next step. Instead of drafting a team, spending an entire season tweaking and adjusting your lineup, you can select a roster of players for that given night and compete against other individuals.
Welcome back to my NHL daily fantasy sports series intended to help give fans an edge selecting their DFS rosters today. I’m targeting one player at each position (center, winger, defense, goalie) that make for quality value picks that won’t break the bank. I’ve also included results from yesterday’s picks and a bonus lineup of the day.

Center – Nick Schmaltz, Chicago Blackhawks $3,800 (at COL)
Schmaltz had some early success with the Hawks in 2016-17 before going down with an injury. He spent some time with AHL Rockford upon return and had six goals, three assists in 12 games. Nick was recently recalled to the big club and should be looking to match that early success. Could be worth a value pick against a lousy Avalanche squad.

Winger – Brock McGinn, Carolina Hurricanes $3,300 (vs. CLB)
If you were lucky, you hit on McGinn this past week with his breakout performance playing in the Canes top-six. He started things off with a goal versus Columbus, followed up by a pair against Buffalo, topped off with a four-point (1g 3a) performance in a 7-4 dismantling of the New York Islanders. Carolina is red hot of late, and although they face one of the league’s best, the Canes should score at least two or three goals.
Defenseman – Brady Skjei, New York Rangers $3,400 (vs. DAL)
With 17 points in 43 games, there’s no guarantee the Rangers rookie finds the scoresheet on Tuesday. Still, he manages to contribute every few games or so – isn’t one of those streaky producers on the back end. Given the match-up and fact that Skjei is now without a point in three games, it might be worth rolling the dice on Skjei.
Goaltender – Mike Condon, Ottawa Senators $7,400 (at STL)
Condon is a modest 5-5-0 over his last 10 starts, but continues to provide strong play behind a Sens squad with eyes on a playoff spot. He’s most recently coming off a pair of wins versus Edmonton and Pittsburgh before dropping allowing four goals in a loss to Toronto on Saturday. Look for him to bounce back on Tuesday versus a struggling Blues team.
