NHL Daily: Morning NHL Headlines

After Some Help, the Bruins Get Knocked Back Down
After the Bruins received some much-needed help on the blue line when defenseman Colin Miller returned, the Bruins were once again knocked back down. During game five against the Sens, the Bruins lost key forward David Krejci after a knee on knee collision. They could possible re-insert Ryan Spooner, Matt Beleskey, or Jimmy Hayes. Either way, the Bruins will need to figure something out cause they can’t rely on Sean Kuraly to win game six like he did in game five. (Causeway Crowd)

A Bad Season has been Rewarded With a Nice Surprise
The Lightning didn’t have the best season, especially with Steven Stamkos only playing in 17 games before going down with an injury again. However, there were a few bright spots. Nikita Kucherov showed us all again he can carry the team offensively with or without Stamkos. And finally, Victor Hedman has become a final three candidate for the Norris Trophy next to Brent Burns and Erik Karlsson. While it’s a long shot given how well Burns and Karlsson have played this year, it’s enough to motivate Hedman into a better year next season. (Fansided)

Should the Blackhawks Move Defenseman Brent Seabrook at the Draft?
When the Blackhawks came into the playoffs as a top tier team and their first Pacific Division Championship they were looked at as favorites to win the cup. However, they were swept in four straight by the Nashville Predators. And now they face some decisions on what to do next, they have expiring contracts from Tomas Jurco, Richard Panik, Andrew Desjardins, Dennis Rasmussen, Johnny Oduya, Brian Campbell, Michal Kempny, and Scott Darling. With Panik, Darling, Rasmussen, and Kempny needing a solid pay day, the Hawks are in a tough spot on what to do with their core. And moving Brent Seabrook may be the answer. (Blackhawk Up)

Is Casey Mittelstadt Another Solution for the Avalanche
The Aves are in a very solid position to select a top tier franchise player. They can either choose Nolan Patrick who is deemed by everyone as a cornerstone guy. Nico Hischier who has moved his way into the conversation after a stellar first year in the QMJHL and World Juniors. Or defenseman Timothy Liljegren who has been solid and taking up top level minutes in the Swedish Elite League. The Aves don’t have a lot of prospect depth up front or on defense. Another option could be Casey Mittelstadt who is going to be drafted right out of high school which is highly uncommon in the NHL making him a very promising player, either way, they are gonna get someone awesome to help turn their club around (Mile High Sticking)

Dallas Stars Dave Strader Headed for the Hall
The Stars didn’t have the best season we all know that, but one thing is for sure and that is play by play announcer Dave Strader is heading to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Sadly he missed most of the year with cancer, but when he did return he was electric and reinvigorated by the team. His passion for the game while battling such a terrible sickness has become an inspiration to everyone in the hockey world. (Blackout Dallas)

The St. Louis Blues have Recalled Defenseman Jordan Schmaltz
Jordan Schmaltz has spent the entire season, well most of it with the Chicago Wolves in the AHL. He was called up earlier in the week and played in game one for the Blues but was later returned to Chicago to play a couple games in the playoffs for them. But before Sunday’s game against the Wild, Schmaltz was recalled and will most likely play the majority of round two against the Predators. (Arch Authority)
