Letang got his day with the Stanley Cup. The Pittsburgh Penguins star defenseman took it with him to a Montreal hospital.

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang has had a rough road the past few years. The star has suffered multiple concussions, a stroke and a herniated disc in just the past four years. Perhaps this is why Letang feels so drawn to hospitals. The Penguins defenseman is among the most charitable players in the NHL, and one of the nicest too. He proved this by taking time out of his day with the Stanley Cup to visit a Montreal hospital. Letang made sure sick children at Ste-Justine got their Stanley Cup moment.

This is the third time the Penguins defenseman has gotten to experience the thrill of winning a championship. A majority of the kids Letang visited probably won’t get a chance to experience something so exciting. But thanks to him, for one day, the kids felt like champions. It’s hard not to root for Letang when he keeps on doing amazing stuff like this.

The Penguins defenseman faces some tough decisions now. Letang has endured numerous injuries. Most in his situation probably would have quit after the stroke. But Letang keeps on pushing through. However, at what point is it too risky for him to continue to play? His herniated disc gives him two very significant injuries in under a five year span. Like most athletes, Letang will likely keep on playing and try to earn as much money as he can. But now’s the time for him to start considering retirement.

It gets better. Letang even managed to throw some shade at the Montreal Canadiens while doing so.

Translated, Letang brought the Stanley Cup to a girl’s bed. He said to the girl “You won’t see [the Stanley Cup] often because of the Canadiens”.

Letang hopes to be ready for the start of the 2017-18 season. The Penguins will be hoping to give the defenseman another opportunity to bring the Stanley Cup to another hospital.
