Bobrovsky Sidelined 4-6 Weeks With Groin Injury

The injury plague has once again hit the Columbus Blue Jackets this season. And it’s hit them pretty hard. The outlook is currently grim. This time it was Sergei Bobrovsky who was sidelined with yet again another injury.
It was announced today by the Blue Jackets that Bobrovsky has been placed on the injured reserve list. He is expected to be out for a timeframe of anywhere between four to six weeks due to a groin muscle injury. Back in October, the tendy also broke his finger and was kept out of the lineup for eight games.
The groin injury occurred during a game this past Wednesday. Bobrovsky needed to be assisted off the ice after he blocked a shot in the game against the Winnipeg Jets. He was unable to place any weight on his right leg and hobbled off the ice. Bobrovsky also had to drop out of participating in the All Star Game Weekend due to the injury.

The twenty six year old has been a big key to the Blue Jackets’ success that they have found this year. Bobrovsky’s record currently stands at 16-15-2 with a 2.85 goals-against average. He also has a .913 save percentage this season.
The Blue Jackets announced that they have recalled goalie Anton Forsberg from the AHL Springfield Falcons on an emergency basis. Forsberg made his debut in the NHL against the Rangers earlier this season, picking up the loss despite stopping 26 shots. The Blue Jackets fell in the game 3-2. In addition to recalling Forsberg, forward Josh Anderson was recalled by the Blue Jackets on an emergency basis and added to their roster.
It was the first time in his career that the 2013 Veniza Trophy winner had been elected to play in an All Star Game. His father had even flown in to watch him compete in the game all the way from Siberia. Despite not getting the chance to watch his son play at his home ice, at least they got to spend some time together.

Bob’s injury comes along with a heavy cost to the Blue Jackets who have already dealt with a plethora of injuries this season. He has played well for his team and has been solid.
The Blue Jackets have already seen a total of 283 players missing games to injuries this year and has begun to struggle. At the moment, Columbus isn’t even in reach of a playoff spot. They are currently chasing the Boston Bruins for the last Eastern Conference wild card spot, sitting 14 points behind the Black and Gold.
It seems as if the name of the game has become injuries for the Columbus Blue Jackets. The team will need to find a way to keep winning despite all of the injuries if they want to keep the hopes of making the playoffs once more.
