Andrew Ladd Trade Rumors: Mood, Emotion of Post-Game Interviews Suggest Jets Captain Likely Done in Winnipeg

Following Winnipeg’s 5-3 loss to Dallas at home on Tuesday night, post-game interviews were met with several questions regarding recent Andrew Ladd trade rumors. With the Jets not due to play another game at home until after Monday’s trade deadline, it may have very well been the last for Winnipeg’s captain.

Regardless of whether he’s traded or not, the possibility alone made it an emotional night.

Heading into the game, the latest we’d heard was that Andrew Ladd‘s camp (agent) had not received a contract offer in a very long time.  Couple that with the recent signing of Dustin Byfuglien, and it seems the writing is on the wall.

More from Rumors

During post-game interviews with coach Paul Maurice, and Ladd himself, both brought forth an eerie feeling as if the pair knew something’s being worked out behind the scenes.

Given his modified no-trade clause, there’s likely been conversation between Ladd and Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff.

If we read the between the lines given all of this information, it seems as though Ladd’s departure is almost certain.

Anaheim Ducks

Filling a need, Ladd could step in and be that missing piece in 2015-16 alongside Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. The Ducks aren’t looking for rentals – there’d be intention of signing him to a new contract before July 1st.

Chicago Blackhawks

We know the Blackhawks are hoping to find a trade partner to play alongside Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa. Arizona’s Mikkel Boedker is being linked as a top option, although, why not add a rental that you’ve won a Stanley Cup with already?

Pittsburgh Penguins

He’d be an upgrade on Carl Hagelin and Chris Kunitz. Stick him with Evgeni Malkin or Sidney Crosby, perhaps even Phil Kessel – you’ve got a dangerous offensive group. GM Jim Rutherford is familiar with the ex-Cane whom he won a Stanley Cup with in 2006.

Next: Ondrej Pavelec Being Showcased for NHL Trade Deadline?

We’ve targeted the obvious possibilities. Is there a chance that an off-the-radar team is in play? The Carolina Hurricanes are unstoppable lately – might GM Ron Francis feel a need to add, instead of subtracting? Colorado GM Joe Sakic already made one small addition with Shawn Matthias – Given their recent success, is Sakic prepared to sacrifice prospects/or draft picks in an attempt to carry Kings-like momentum deep into the playoffs? If Andrew Ladd is traded before Monday’s deadline, where do you think he ends up?
