Forced back to Milwaukee in 2004-05 during the NHL lock-out, Hamhuis dominated the AHL with 51 points in 76 games. He added two assists in seven playoff matches.

Post-lockout in 2005-06, Hamhuis had the most productive season of his NHL career, producing seven goals, 31 assists (38 points). He also had a pair of assists in five playoff games for Nashville.

He spent the next four seasons with Nashville, producing between 20-27 points per season over that span.

After failing to come to terms on a new contract with the Predators, Hamhuis’ negotiating rights were traded to Philadelphia, then flipped to Pittsburgh. He eventually made his way to free agency on July 1st, 2010. Hamhuis eventually signed a six-year deal worth $27 million dollars with Vancouver.

Vancouver Canucks D Dan Hamhuis has since spent the last six seasons with the organization. His most productive season with the club came in 2011-12, when he had four goals, 33 assists (37 points). He has 296 points in 850 career NHL games.

He’s missed time due to injury in 2015-16, now healthy, Hamhuis has six assists in 36 games.

The 33-year-old Hamhuis, a pending unrestricted free agent, told reporters following Thursday’s morning skate that management has not yet approached him about waiving his no-trade clause.

“I think it’s a conversation that I’ve needed to have with my family just in preparation there is changes,” he said prior to Thursday’s tilt versus the Ottawa Senators at Rogers Arena.

“We have kids and if something were to change than we’d want to be prepared for that.”

Family and stability were the reasons Hamhuis wanted a no-trade clause in his contract when he signed with the Canucks – and reportedly turned down more money from other teams interested in him – in the July of 2010.
