At 5’9 165lbs, Ty is a spitting image of his father who stood one inch shorter. He also plays a very similar style to his father, offering an offensively gifted small man’s game. While the Cliff Ronning’s and Theo Fleury’s of the hockey world were rare commodities 20 years ago, the evolution of a faster, more skilled game gave the undersized player a better opportunity to succeed – as long as they’re physically strong enough to handle it.

“It’s his play away from the puck (more than his size) which is why he isn’t considered a real NHL prospect. As I have stated previously he is a one trick pony. He can snipe and finish but that is basically all. He adds very little anywhere else. Plus he has been injury prone (dodged that bullet so far this season) but I have a feeling he will end that streak eventually. He has a knack for skating with his head down.”
