Statistical Leaders in 2016-17

Top Forward: Bo Horvat (23gp 8g 8a 16pts)
Top Defenseman: Ben Hutton (23gp 3g 4a 7pts)
Top Rookie: Troy Stecher (14gp 1g 4a 5pts)
Top Goaltender: Jacob Markstrom (6 wins 2.73GAA .902 save percentage)

Player of the Week: G Jacob Markstrom (1w, 1.86GAA, .943 save percentage)

Vancouver had a great seven-day stretch going 2-1-0, this was due to Jacob Markstrom’s outstanding play as well as Ben Hutton and Bo Horvat having outstanding weeks. Together they had six points despite being a combined minus one. Vancouver has seemed to finally found their scoring touch and a new number one goalie.

Last week they managed to beat Minnesota and Colorado but unfortunately lost to Dallas. This week they’ll be playing against Anaheim, Toronto, and New Jersey. Two of those three games they should be able to win if last week’s success can transfer over to these three games.

Weekly Prospect Profile: D Guillaume Brisebois, Charlottetown (QMJHL)

2016-17 stats: 21gp 3g 11a 14pts

Guillaume is a passionate player, he’s more a student of the game learning what he can when he can. He’s also very solid at both ends of the ice making him a very good two-way defender. However, it takes him a shift or two to get into game mode, which can have it’s downside if the opposition manages to come out swinging. But the other side of the coin to that is when pressured, he takes a calm approach and shows his mature poise. His hockey sense is amazing, letting him know where to be on the ice in every play and where he should be with the role given to him. Brisebois also has a very heavy shot that he needs to use more, but all-in-all he’s a very intelligent defenseman that plays with a lot of hunger and wants to prove he’s the best. – Matt Duscharme
