RW- Brian Gionta, Buffalo Sabres

The current captain of the Buffalo Sabres, Brian Gionta fits all the qualities of an expansion captain. He’s a veteran leader who should be available come the expansion draft this June.

This season, the 37-year-old forward is posting six goals and five assists in his 27 games played. If Gionta keeps up this pace he has a shot at beating his last season stats of 12 goals and 21 assists.

While his production has been trending down for a few seasons, the leadership he provides could be invaluable for a young team. Having a veteran who could offer valuable leadership and guidance to a younger team is exactly what Vegas should be looking for.
