Jakob Chychrun: I Will Survive (Gloria Gaynor)

After being drafted 16th overall in the 2016 NHL Draft, hopes for Jakob Chychrun have been high. The Florida born prodigy is primed to be the NHL’s next superstar defenseman. For the 2017-18 campaign, Chychrun played 50 games, registered four goals, compiled 10 assists and accumulated 16 penalty minutes. The 6’2” and 210 pound defenseman suffered yet another season plagued with injury. These nagging injuries have played a huge impact on Chychrun who has yet to finish a full season.

I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor is the ideal track to describe Chychrun and his 2017-18 performance. Many believe that Chychrun is going to be a driving force for Arizona in years to come. The responsibility weighs heavy on the 20 year-old, but he shows he is able to handle the hype with great ease, as shown through his stats. The only thing keeping Chychrun from blossoming is the injuries he constantly gets.

However, these injuries seem to be a distant memory for Chychrun who has been rehabbing tremendously after receiving surgery on his lower body. Many fans may be skeptical that he is going to live up to the hype, but all signs point to the fact that he will not only meet, but exceed expectations. Therefore, it seems Chychrun has survived all health obstacles.
