2. St. Louis Blues

LeBron James came home to Cleveland. Ken Hitchcock returned to the Dallas Stars. Randy Carlyle came back to coach the Anaheim Ducks. Claude Julien returned to the Montreal Canadiens. Why not have the best return story ever, Joel Quenneville returning to the St. Louis Blues?

Why Quenneville’s a fit for them: The Blues know how good Coach Q is better than anyone else. After all, not only did he coach them for several years back in the 1990’s, he coached against them for numerous years with the Colorado Avalanche and the Chicago Blackhawks. Quenneville gets the most out of the talent he is given.

Current head coach Mike Yeo seems to have lost his team. It’s honestly a bit surprising Blues general manager Doug Armstrong haven’t taken a page from A Night In Roxbury and showed up at Quenneville’s wedding blasting “What Is Love?”. Yes, I know he’s married, but work with me here.

Why the Blues are a fit for Quenneville: The Blues have a talented roster. Ryan O’Reilly is a great two-way center. Few players are more gifted than Vladimir Tarasenko. Brayden Schenn and Jaden Schwartz are strong building blocks. As are Alex Pietrangelo and Colton Parayko.

Why it won’t happen: St. Louis probably can’t offer the same kind of money as other teams.

But…: If Quenneville really wants to stick it to the Blackhawks, there’s no better team to do it with than their biggest rival.
