NHL trade rumors: 3 teams who should trade for Taylor Hall
2. Montreal Canadiens
Hall has already been linked to the Montreal Canadiens, according to the Montreal Gazette. It’s not hard to see how he would be a perfect fit for the Habs. The Canadiens have plenty of depth, but don’t really have a top-notch scorer to rely on. Hall would change that and would give the Habs a gamechanger at forward.
The Canadiens also have the prospect pool necessary to not only trade for Hall, but still have a very good pool even after losing a top prospect or two. As an added bonus, the Habs have by far enough cap space to acquire Hall without making the Devils take some money back. With over $5 million of projected cap space, fitting him in won’t be an issue.
What Would It Take?
Obviously, the Habs 2020 first-round pick would be in play. But Montreal’s a team who might be able to persuade the Devils to accept only a second-round pick because they have so many prospects they could offer. One can assume Cole Caufield is off the table, but Ryan Poehling or Nick Suzuki could easily be the headline piece of a trade for Hall.
Cayden Primeau could be an interesting trade target for the Devils. He’s one of the best goalies who isn’t in the NHL and he has the potential to be a franchise goalie. However, the Canadiens love him a lot, so it’s not likely they’ll include him.
