1. Laviolette needs to go

Something needs to change for the Nashville Predators to save their season. They’ve invested way too much into this season to not make the playoffs. Should the Predators fail to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs, there are going to be significant changes.

Those changes should probably not happen to the roster. General Manager David Poile has done enough to try to upgrade the roster. At some point, he’s got to stop looking at his players and look at the guy who is coaching them.

The job of any coach is complicated, but if you want to simplify it, a coach adapts to help his team compete. Peter Laviolette’s Predators have taken a step back for a second consecutive season. If Poile wants to save his team’s season, a new coach is needed.

To be fair, it’s not Lavy’s fault the Predators can’t seem to buy a save. I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again – show me a coach that got fired, and I can probably show you a coach who got bad goaltending. However, the Predators’ lack of goaltending hurts them even more because Laviolette’s system hurts their offense.

Lavy is a good coach, but one has to wonder if he’s the right coach for the Predators. Unless he can help his team turn their season around quickly, he could be the next coach fired.
