Philadelphia Flyers

Why he makes sense for them: The Philadelphia Flyers need to add a center. In a perfect world, that center would be Nolan Patrick. He has struggled to stay healthy, but when he has been healthy, he’s been a solid top-nine forward. Unfortunately, Patrick’s still having severe migraines and hasn’t played all season.

If the Flyers can get Patrick back, I think their interest in Pageau would disappear. But if they don’t get him back, Pageau would be a perfect fit for the Flyers. Just imagine having to face a team that could trot out annual Selke Trophy candidate Sean Couturier and Pageau on their top two lines. Oh, and then there’s Kevin Hayes.

Why he doesn’t: The Flyers would probably be willing to move a first-round pick for the right guy. And, for the record, I believe Pageau is the right guy for them. But if the Flyers struggle in the next month, they might be less inclined to trade for him. It’s almost like teams should try trading for players earlier than the trade deadline!

Verdict: I could certainly see it happening. But, as is tradition, the Flyers are a really hard team to figure out. If a deal gets done, it might not even involve a first-round pick if the Senators really like Shayne Gostisbehere.
