Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers were reportedly quite interested in Blake Coleman before he got traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning. If they were interested in him, it makes sense that they’d like Palmieri as well. After all, Palmieri’s a more offensive player than Coleman.

A huge issue with the Oilers is they don’t have many good wings. For crying out loud, Zack Kassian is on their top line when he’s not suspended. Just think about that. Palmieri would give them a top-notch right wing who is one of the most consistent goal scorers in the NHL.

His contract is very reasonable as well. However, the Oilers would have to get a little bit creative to fit Palmieri’s cap hit under the salary cap. They’d probably have to send some salary to the Devils.

Darnell Nurse would make sense. He recently signed a two-year extension worth $5.6 million per year. However, the injury to Oscar Klefbom means trading Nurse would leave them shorthanded on the left side. That said, the Oilers should explore a Nurse for Palmieri trade in the summer.

If they want him now, they could send Sam Gagner (an expiring UFA) to the Devils along with a first-round pick and a prospect.
