Frölunda HC (SHL). Lucas Raymond. 1. player. 67. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Right Wing

Lucas Raymond would be the perfect draft pick for the Los Angeles Kings. Everyone has him going somewhere in the top five. With so many good players, it’s quite possible he could fall to the Kings if they have the fifth overall pick or better.

One advantage Raymond has over most of the other players in the 2020 draft class is his professional experience. He’s already playing in the SHL, where he put up 10 points in 31 games for Frolunda HC. Raymond did this despite not getting that much playing time, as he was playing on a pretty stacked team.

He’s one of the best skaters in the draft, as he’s very fast and quick. More importantly, Raymond’s acceleration is impressive and he can make plays consistently at his top speed. Though he does need to fill out his frame, all the pieces are there for him to be a consistent top-six forward.

Raymond possesses an impressive shot and he’s a solid passer as well. Before the season ended, he was starting to get a bit more defensive responsibilities, which is a good sign. Raymond has a high hockey IQ, which makes him even more lethal. It’s possible he goes as high as third, but if he falls, the Kings need to pounce on him.
