2. No Stupid Stories, Please

There was one thing about the 2020 NFL Draft that I really hated. ESPN wanted to give interesting facts about each prospect, which I get. But they went a bit too far, especially with wide receiver Tee Higgins. It felt like ESPN was trying to force things that weren’t there, and by doing that, they made certain things public that should have remained private.

The NHL needs to be better at their draft. And I think they will. However, ESPN still had the right idea. There are some prospects with some interesting backgrounds. If they have interesting backgrounds or facts, share them, but don’t cram them down anyone’s throat.

Let’s give an example. Jaret Anderson-Dolan of the LA Kings was raised by two mothers. That’s something really cool and if this is true of a prospect at the 2020 draft, they should briefly talk about it.

Does a prospect really love Fortnite? Did they play other sports growing up? Are they an avid music fan? Is their Animal Crossing island creative? Awesome, you can talk about those things too. Fans like hearing cool facts about prospects. It makes them easier to relate to and it reminds us that they’re merely just people like everybody else. Just don’t go too far.
