2. Bobby Hull

Longtime Chicago Blackhawk Bobby Hull, known as the Golden Jet, is highly regarded as one of the best NHL players of all time. The father of NHL great Brett Hull was dominant from the get go when he stepped into the NHL, and posted an incredible five seasons of 50 or more goals in just 16 seasons. He also left the NHL for six seasons, playing for the Winnipeg Jets in the WHA, and had four more seasons over 50 goals, including a career high 77 during the 1974-75 season.

Though Hull only had one season over 100 points in his NHL career, he had four in his six WHA seasons. His 77-goal campaign was the best season of his career, as he also put up 142 points, the highest total of his professional career. For his NHL career, he was able to win plenty of hardware, as he finished his career with three Art Ross Trophies, two Hart Trophies, and a Lady Byng.

Hull was also able to help the Chicago Blackhawks win a Stanley Cup in 1961, posting 14 points in 12 games during their playoff run. One thing that often gets forgotten about him is that he may have had the hardest shot in the history of the game. His slapshot was reportedly once clocked at a ridiculous 118.3 MPH. To relate that to today’s NHL, the 2020 NHL All-Star games hardest shot was won by Shea Weber with a slapshot recorded at 106.5 MPH.

Looking at Hull’s career totals, it is easy to see why he was a no doubter to elect into the Hockey Hall of Fame. The now 81-year-old finished his NHL career with 610 goals and 1,170 points in 1,063 games.

He was outstanding during his NHL career in the playoffs as well, posting 129 points in 119 games. Even more impressive are his WHA career totals, which ended with him posting 303 goals and 638 points in just 411 games. He also appeared in 60 WHA playoff games, posting 80 points. He will forever be regarded as an NHL legend.
