2. Tim Stutzle

Tim Stützle could join Leon Draisaitl in history as one of the only German players in history to be drafted with a top-three pick in the NHL draft. Some experts even have him as the second-best overall prospect, trailing only Lafrenière.

Stützle could be the number one center the Senators have been looking for. Though he played mostly at the wing in his draft season in the DEL (Germany’s top professional league), he has the tools to be a great center.

He’s one of the fastest and quickest players in the draft, according to Scott Wheeler of The Athletic. Stützle was quite impressive against professional players this season, as he put up 34 points in 41 games. The DEL isn’t as tough as the SHL, but still, that shows he can dominate against people older and bigger than him.

Stützle is one of the best passers in the draft and might own the softest hand in the draft. That should make him a great fit for the Senators. Now, my lone concern about Stützle is he can play a bit too much of a perimeter game at times. I think this should change as he gets stronger, though.

The big question is this – do the Senators view Stützle as a center? Because if they do, Stützle’s name could be called with the third overall pick whenever the draft is held.
