3. Carolina’s Top Line Comes Through Again

The story of the game will be Dougie Hamilton’s game-winning goal in the third period. However, the Carolina Hurricanes wouldn’t have won the game without significant contributions from their top forward line of Teuvo Teravainen, Sebastian Aho, and Andrei Svechnikov, even though that top line was separated after Game 1.

Just as they have through the regular season and postseason, the trio gave the Hurricanes life when they needed it the most. Down 1-0 in the second period, the game was starting to get away from the Hurricanes until Teuvo Teravainen struck on the power play. Naturally, Aho and Svechnikov got the primary assist and secondary assist, respectively.

Less than two minutes later, Svechnikov got on the scoreboard with a gorgeous goal that gave the Hurricanes a 2-1 lead. Unfortunately, the Bruins would score to tie it up. But the Hurricanes needed life and, as they always do, their top line was there to give it to them.

Even when they were separated, they still did it. The Hurricanes’ top three forwards are as good as anyone. You have to wonder if Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’amour will try to get them some more time on the ice together now that they have the last change. Judging by how good they were in Game 2, I’d be surprised if we didn’t see their top line get reunited.
