The National Hockey League is used to Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid making insane plays and being the best player in the league. In fact, there are plenty of arguments to be made that he is the most skilled hockey player who ever lived. He is truly sensational.

When you think of the things that make McDavid great, you think of the fact that he is the fastest player in league history when the puck is on his stick. That helps him to make very good defenders struggle when they go up against him.

As a result, he has been one of the league’s great playmakers. He also has the ability to score lots of goals, which is something that has made him even better over the years. If you take away his pass, you give him a lane to shoot. Either way, you’re in trouble.

So far during this 2022-23 season, however, he has taken his goal-scoring to a new level. Everyone always knew that he could score 50 goals if he wanted and possibly even lead the league if he wanted to.

Some might ask, well why wouldn’t he want to? Sometimes, shooting the puck or going to the net isn’t always the thing that will make the best play. His ability to make others around him better might cost him some goals from time to time.

Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid has taken his scoring to another level.

He can have 120 points with 40 goals and 80 assists. 40 goals are nice but it isn’t going to lead the NHL ever. Now, this year, things are different.

Through 14 Edmonton Oilers games so far, McDavid leads the league with 14 goals. That is sensational and it has people wondering if he can get 50 goals in 50 games. It might slow down, but the idea of him getting 50 or even 60 is not out of the question.

He seems to be putting an extra emphasis on getting the puck on the net more this year. He even hangs around the net on the power play a little bit more which was the way he scored his 14th on Tuesday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

His playmaking hasn’t suffered either like some might have though as he has a remarkable 15 assists for 29 points. Those 29 points lead the NHL by three points and his teammate Leon Draisaitl is the one in second place with 26.

McDavid’s 15 assists are tied with Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Mat Barzal of the New York Islanders for third. He only trails Draisaitl (17) and Nathan MacKinnon (16) of the Colorado Avalanche. There is a good chance that he ends up leading in both goals and assists.

The things that McDavid does on a daily basis make being a hockey fan right now so much fun. He is as dynamic, fast, skilled, and tough as any player going right now which makes the Edmonton Oilers must-see TV. Hopefully, they can make another deep playoff run.
