6. Miro Heiskanen

Next up we have Miro Heiskanen of the Dallas Stars. Heiskanen was drafted third overall in 2017 so he has fallen back a few spots in the order. However, when you consider that Dallas has two additional players that still need to be named on this list, I guess they had a pretty good draft. Heiskanen is one of the best defensemen to come out of this draft.

While he might always be overshadowed thanks to the player who was drafted right behind him, Heiskanen is a reliable top-pair defenseman who has 162 points in 313 games. He helps make the next player on this list that much better.

5. Jake Oettinger

Jake Oettinger had an incredible season in 2021-22. He shined super bright during the Stars’ round one loss to the Calgary Flames, which was close because of Oettinger, and he has been a force in the net with a record of 59-29-11 thus far in his career. Dallas is lucky to have Oettinger in the net, and thanks to the extension he signed ahead of the season, they are going to have him in net for a long time.

Now we just have to wait and see if he will be in the All-Star game.

4. Elias Pettersson

At number four, we have the highest point-getter of the 2017 draft thus far, Elias Pettersson. Pettersson was drafted fifth overall in 2017 by the Vancouver Canucks, and since then, he has been a constant force in the NHL, putting up 114 goals and 268 points, both of which lead the entire draft class.

This season he has registered 47 points in 37 games. While the Canucks have struggled, Pettersson has continued to try and put up points. He has a real chance to set a career record for points this season.
