The Calgary Flames have a ton of talent on the ice entering the 2023-24 season. While they might not have made the playoffs last year, there is still a ton of optimism heading into the new season with a new coach in Ryan Huska.

When it comes to fantasy hockey, it is important to find players who could have big breakout seasons, and there are a lot of options from the Flames. With that in mind, here are some of the potential players to target for fantasy hockey from the Calgary Flames.

Three Players To Target For Fantasy Hockey in 2023 from the Flames

Jacob Markstrom

First off, I think goaltender Jacob Markstrom is a great goaltender to target in fantasy. Markstrom had a down year in 2022-23 so you might be able to target him later in the draft. Markstrom is just a year removed from being runner up for the Vezina with a .922 save percentage and a goals against average of 2.22, oh and NINE shutouts.

It might be a little bit of a gamble with Markstrom having one of his worst seasons in his entire career last season, but it might be worth taking him as a secondary goaltender.

Nazem Kadri

Nazem Kadri’s first season with the Flames did not go as planned. Kadri had just won the Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche had put up 87 points in 71 regular season games that season and during his first year in Calgary had just 56 points in 82 games.

The Flames across the board struggled, and Kadri was no exception. But if you are looking for another candidate of someone who could bounce back this season Kadri is another good option to target in fantasy. He has consistently put up at least 50 points a season and should he bounce back this year with another 80 point campaign he would be a great star on anyone’s team.

Matthew Coronato

Last up we have a young rookie who signed his entry level contract this past March. Matthew Coronato could be a great candidate to have a breakout season this year. Coronato was drafted 13th overall in 2021 by the Flames and is now looking to make the NHL roster full time.

The Flames have a lot of openings in their roster and Coronato could step into a top six or top nine role on this team. Coronato is one of the Flames top prospects at this point, and he might be worth picking up with one of your last picks in the draft.
