Monday night is a very interesting one in the NHL. There is only one game on across the entire league for this one night. It is between the Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres who are two young teams that can play some very exciting hockey.

Both of these teams probably wish they got off to better starts but this is a game that can propel one of them forward for the rest of the season. Based on the rosters of the two teams, there is a lot more pressure on the Buffalo Sabres.

Of course, Buffalo came so close last season and just missed ending the longest playoff drought in the whole NHL. Instead, however, they had to wait all off-season to see how their team would do in the 2023-24 season.

When you see Buffalo, you see players like Tage Thompson, Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power, and Dylan Cozens amongst others. It is a star-studded lineup that can score but they are still working on defending like a team.

The Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres are set for a Monday night match.

As for Montreal, they are a little bit behind Buffalo in the rebuilding process. They lost Kirby Dach for the season but they do have Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Alex Newhook amongst others. More will be on the way after this season is over.

By 2026, both of these organizations should be incredible. That is why it will be fun to watch the early stages of it here in 2023. It makes it easier knowing that both of these teams are the only two playing in the entire league.

The twist is that all 32 teams will be on the ice playing on Tuesday. It is one of the only times that it has ever happened and it should make for great TV. On that day, the Montreal Canadiens will host the New Jersey Devils and the Buffalo Sabres will be on the road to face the Ottawa Senators.

Those are two very tough matchups for both of them so they want to come out firing in this one. The entire hockey world will be watching it as the only game in town so that has to be pretty fun for them knowing that. Hopefully, no matter what, it turns out to be an incredible game.
