The Vancouver Canucks are currently sitting at the top of the overall NHL standings. They have 68 standings points which is one more point than the Boston Bruins who are in second.

Why are they so good? Well, for one, Rick Tocchet has been incredible in his first full year as their head coach. He has helped everyone in Vancouver grow their game and become winning players.

Guys like Quinn Hughes, Elias Petterson, JT Miller, and Brock Boeser have all led this team to become one of the best in the league.

With that said, you can't be that good in the NHL without great goaltending. There is no doubt that they are getting that from Thatcher Demko.

Demko was named to the NHL All-Star Game for his performance this season. It is a great honor for him as the whole world will see how good he is on one of the league's top stages.

On Monday night, Demko and the Canucks shut out the Chicago Blackhawks. Chicago is not a good team but they play very hard every single night. Shutting them out on a night where they played very well is impressive for Demko.

He is now up to five shutouts this season to go with his 2.40 goals against average, .922 save percentage, and 25-8-1 record. He should be considered a Vezina Trophy candidate at this point.

There is a lot of hockey left to go. It is on him to make sure he continues to play well after his trip to Toronto for the All-Star Game. The Canucks need him at the top of his game if they are going to win in the playoffs.

The President's Trophy certainly isn't the goal for this club. If they are going to win their first-ever Stanley Cup, Demko and the boys need to be at their best as they have been for most of this season. With numbers like that and only being 28 years old, it is hard to see him falling off.
