We have finally seen what an NHL goal looks like in the state of Utah. Of course, the Utah Hockey Club was born from the ashes of the Arizona Coyotes after last season and now they’re ready to begin their first season.

On Monday night, they hosted the first game of the preseason (their second overall). It was a contest against the Los Angeles Kings at Delta Center.

Utah took a 1-0 lead on one of the nicest plays you’ll ever see from a power play unit. They passed the puck around so well and it eventually led to Lawson Crouse tapping one in. If giving out four assists were allowed, this would be one of the few goals that deserves it.

There is finally hockey being played in the state of Utah and it's great

Just over a minute later, Utah would score another power play goal. This one was scored by Alexander Kerfoot, hoping to have found a good home in Utah. Matias Maccelli and Sean Durzi assisted both goals.

In the second period, the Kings would get both goals back. Jeff Malott and Alex Turcotte scored the goals. That would be it for the scoring in regulation. This contest required overtime.

The fourth period took no time at all. Clayton Keller ended things for Utah just 0:19 into overtime to send the fans home happy. Despite being just the preseason, it was great to see Utah come up with a fun win at home.

Now, the hockey community knows what a goal and a win look like in Utah. With all of their talent, there might be plenty of those big goals and victories in 2024-25. This fanbase is going to have a lot to cheer about. It won't be long before this team is a contender in the West.
