The Maple Leafs' practice sessions are heading outdoors.
The Toronto Maple Leafs recently announced that they would be heading outdoors for a weekend (plus Monday) of events centred around the team's annual outdoor practice.
This year's outdoor practice will take place on Monday, January 26th at Etobicoke's Westway Outdoor Rink. While the practice will only fill that day's 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. timeslot, there are activities that will run from the 24th to the 26th.
On the Saturday, the Leafs will organize an open skate event between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., with complimentary skate rentals being offered on-site.
The Sunday will see a full slate of activities planned, with activities at "The Lot" running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. . The PWHL's Toronto Sceptres will take part in a Skills Competition at 11:30 a.m.; this will run until 12:15 p.m. The Leafs' Alumni game, which sees former Leafs stars play in a no-stakes affair, will take place at 12:30 p.m. and run until 1:15 p.m. Fifteen minutes later, the team will run a watch party for the Maple Leafs' game against the Colorado Avalanche; the game also serves as the Leafs' Next Gen Game, with youth-focused content and initiatives being at the centre of the day's proceedings. That time slot will also see the team offer another open skate event.
The final day of the proceedings will feature the outdoor practice, taking place at 11:30 a.m., and one last open skate between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Last year's edition of the team's outdoor practice saw the team head to Mimico, a neighbourhood in the southwest end of Toronto. Previous editions have seen the team stage practices at the Nathan Phillips Square, just outside Toronto's City Hall.
This year's edition will also see WWE superstars in attendance prior to Monday Night Raw; the January 26th wrestling event is set to be staged at Scotiabank Arena.
The weekend's festivities will kick off Saturday afternoon, with the practice set for Monday at 11:30 a.m.
