NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Letting You Know Which Players Should You Add/Drop Heading Into Week 8, Complete Injury Update, Players of the Week, and More!
Welcome back to our weekly NHL fantasy hockey waiver wire. A lot has changed on the injury front over the past week, which you need to be aware so you don’t have guys taking up wasted space. Being at the top of your game is a major factor week in and week out to get the best results from your pool, and we’re here to help you with that.
Our goal is to help you gather as much knowledge as possible to take advantage of your pool from week-to-week because in some scoring systems, once you fall behind, no matter how hard you try, you’re stuck there for the rest of the year. But we’re gonna make sure you at least stay in the lead, or competitive (if you’re near the end or in the middle of the pack)

NHL Fantasy: Top Forward of the Week: F Connor McDavid (EDM)
More from Puck Prose
- Detroit Red Wings 2023 Rookie Camp Has Plenty of Ups and Downs
- This Columbus Blue Jackets rookie doesn’t want to be forgotten
- 2 trades the Boston Bruins must make to secure the Stanley Cup
- 3 reasons the Avalanche won’t win the Stanley Cup in 2024
- This is a big year for Alex Turcotte and the Los Angeles Kings
It’s no surprise Connor is the NHL fantasy top forward of the week once again. Last week, Connor had seven points in four games while being a plus three. McDavid should continue on a tear all season long. So, if you have him on your team, no matter what someone says or tries to offer, do not take it. Connor is going to lead the NHL this year, and if you’re in a keeper league, he’s that much more valuable for your team.
NHL Fantasy: Top Defenseman of the Week: D Kevin Shattenkirk (STL)
Pending UFA Kevin Shattenkirk had himself a solid week for the Blues, scoring five points in three games as well as being a plus one. Shattenkirk is usually a simple player to acquire in any pool, it just depends on what you’re willing to give up for him, just make sure you’re not overpaying. Because he will have down weeks as well, but expect many more progressive weeks this year. So if you can acquire Kevin, do it.
Next: Week 8 NHL Power Rankings
NHL Fantasy: Top Goalie of the Week: G Sergei Bobrovsky (CBJ)
Sergei Bobrovsky has beaten out Carey Price for top goalie of the week. He produced some impressive numbers that most likely helped your team during the week. Sergei had three wins in with a .929 save percentage and a 1.72 goals-against-average. He also faced 98 shots stopping 91 of them. If you’re in a format that counts those statistical categories, you had a solid week. You should also keep him as he’s trending upward, and is likely to do so for the rest of the season after a shaky start.
