NHL Daily: Morning NHL Headlines

Hurricanes Netminder Eddie Lack Carried off Stretcher.
Carolina was having a pretty tremendous game against the Red Wings Monday night, but when overtime came that’s when things changed. Andreas Athanasiou got the better of Canes forward Victor Rask along the boards and rushed the net for a scoring chance. He got one and scored, but he also clipped netminder Eddie Lack while doing so. After the ensuing play Lack laid almost lifeless while everyone and I mean everyone gathered around him to see if he was alright. He was ultimately carted off via stretcher and his status at this moment is unknown. (Cardiac Cane)

Ottawa Senators Sign Prospect Colin White.
The Ottawa Senators announced Monday that they have signed prospect Colin White. However, he wasn’t directly signed by the Sens club, he was signed by the Binghamton Senators, the Sens AHL farm club. With him focusing on AHL play only, he still has time to grow and reach his potential before finally signing with the big club. And after a very solid college season this year with 33 points in 35 games. And given how talented he is, he’ll see some first line action. The other bonus about this type of deal is it won’t burn the first year of his entry-level deal if he is called up and plays a handful of games. (Senshot)

With Frederik Andersen and Eric Fehr out, The Leafs Recall Garret Sparks and Kasperi Kapanen.
The Leafs are in the playoff picture and with the injury, to Frederik Andersen, it’s easy to assume the Leafs are going to be in trouble. And on top of that, Nikita Soshnikov, Eric Fehr, and Josh Leivo are hurt as well leaving a hole on the fourth line. So the club recalled Garret Sparks and Kasperi Kapanen to help fill the voids. The only downside is the Leafs now have to rely on both Sparks and Curtis McElhinney to keep them in the playoff picture, so can they do it? we’ll find out. (Tip Of The Tower)

College Star Mike Vecchione on Flyers Radar.
With Mike Vecchione’s college season now over he’s become a top-tier free agent, but where he’s going to sign still remains a mystery. But what isn’t a mystery is the fact the Flyers are interested and could use him on the team. He put up a whopping 63 points 38 games this season and could easily fill a bottom six center role with the club, something Philadelphia needs desperately. (Section 215)

Edmonton Oilers Eyeing College Player Spencer Foo.
Spencer Foo like Mike Vecchione is another top prospect fresh out of college with no place to go. This year he posted a similar season to Mike putting up 62 points in 38 games. With how talented the Oilers are up front, someone like Leon Draisaitl would be a perfect player for Spencer to be paired with as well as former college player Drake Caggiula. (Oil On Whyte)

Buffalo Needs Help on the Backend, Is Trading Their 2017 First Round Pick the Answer?
Everyone knows how skilled the front of the ice looks for Buffalo, and we all know besides Rasmus Ristolainen, Jake McCabe, and Dmitry Kulikov they need more help on the back end. Now another thing we all know is the fact Buffalo may be a top 10 team in the draft, so the question is should they move their first round pick for defensive help? The answer is quite simple actually, yes, because championships are built from the back end out. And if they already have the offensive core plus offensive prospects in the system they can easily move that pick for a top four defenseman (Sabre Noise)
