Patrick Kane Under Investigation By Hamburg Police

Update: According to multiple media outlets Patrick Kane is being investigated for rape.

Patrick Kane is back in the news, but this time it’s not for being an NHL super star. The 26-year-old Buffalo, NY native is reportedly under investigation by Hamburg, NY police. Hamburg police have issued a gag order within their department so details are not available, but this is not the first time Patrick Kane has come home and gotten in trouble. Back in 2009 Kane had a run in with a Buffalo, NY cab driver. The only thing we do know is according to The Buffalo News no charges have been filed yet.  The office bad boy image needs to change.

Kane, of course, has had a history of off-ice trouble. He was arrested after an altercation with a cab driver in Buffalo in 2009, and admitted it was “time to grow up a little bit” after being photographed shirtless in a limousine in Vancouver in 2010. Then in the summer of 2012 came his infamous Cinco de Mayo partying in Madison, after which embarrassing photos of him were all over the Internet. [Chicago Sun Times]

Kane has done a lot of growing up on the ice and his play is something any young hockey player would love to copy. It’s the off-ice hometown stuff that seems to be an issue. I live not more than five minutes

from where Patrick Kane grew up and as you go into local shops you will see Kane jerseys and Blackhawks stuff. But, Buffalo and its surrounding areas have a limit to how much trouble they are willing to deal with. I’ll save most of my judgment until the details come out, but this is just one more story about a player possibly doing something dumb during the off-season.

At some point Patrick Kane needs to keep his name out of the off-season news. There is a clear trend developing here and it’s not good look. It’s one thing to be a clean-cut good guy on the ice and then be the opposite off the ice. Granted there has been no real hard done, but Kane’s image is taking a few more hits than it needs to. At 26-years-old he is still has growing up to do, but he should know better by now.

It seems no one in Erie County is willing to confirm anything when it comes to Patrick Kane and this report. That’s fine, the damage is done, and now the Blackhawks and Kane will have damage control to do. There is more to being a hockey play than money and fame. These players have companies that spend a ton of money to use their names and when players do stuff like this they hurt more than themselves.

From a Buffalo stand point this is a second strike, and all the fame in the world won’t save Patrick Kane from judgment in the area. His skills are elite, but it seems his judgment is sub-par.
