NHL All-Star Skills Comp: Goodbye Breakaway Challenge, Hello Four Line Challenge
The NHL has decided to opt for a new challenge for the All-Star skills comp called the “Four Line Challenge.” In this challenge, the player will try to hit targets in the net from the closest blue line, center ice, the far blue line and the opposite goal line.
Goalies will also have the opportunity to try from the farthest distance and will have more points available to them if they succeed.
It was reported that the retiring of the breakaway challenge and the introduction of the four line challenge was as much the players’ decision as the league. Therefore, there won’t be any all-stars upset that they won’t be able to try their best breakaway move.
Fans will miss the breakaway challenge, but if the four lines challenge is a fun feat for the players to try then fans won’t be disappointed for long. Plus, after a while you’ve got to run out of fun breakaway gags, right?
