NHL Daily: Morning NHL Headlines

Panthers Sign Two Europeans
Yesterday the Panthers announced the signings of Henrik Haapala and Maxim Mamin from Finland and Russia respectively. Haapala is coming over from Tappara where he finished with 60 points in 51 games, Mamin on the other hand only put up 25 points in 42 games in the KHL. Both are signed to entry level deals so it’s likely that they’ll be in the AHL next season. (The Rat Trick)

Maple Leafs Say Good-Bye to Three Prospects
Toronto has parted ways with prospects Stephen Desrocher, Fabrice Herzog, and Nikita Korostelev. Herzog and Desrocher will now become unrestricted free agents while Korostelev is eligible to be re-drafted. Now even though it sucks for Leafs fans to see the team say bye to three prospects, this just means the team is under the 50 player limit and can focus on new ones. (Tip Of The Tower)

Blues Hire Ex-NHLer
Barret Jackman was a workhorse for the St. Louis Blues who played for the organization from 2002 to 2015. Now he’s taking on a new job, the organization has announced they have signed him as a player development coach, this is great for all the upcoming defenseman in the system. (Arch Authority)

Aho Ranked in the Top 50 for Carolina
Earlier this year FanSided site Cardiac Cane conducted a countdown that seen rookie Sebastian Aho get ranked 49th overall. That’s pretty awesome for a rookie who was selected in the second round of the 2015 draft, but the fact he came in and helped change the Canes right away in 2016-17 is probably why. (Cardiac Cane)

Washington Re-Signs Forward to Two-Year Deal
Washington has announced the signing of a depth forward Nathan Walker, Nate played 58 games last season for the Hershey Bears in the AHL putting up 23 points. And over a 202 career span with Hershey, Nathan has managed 79 points.
