8. Mikhail Vorobyev

Acquired: 2015 fourth-round pick

Age: 22

Position: Center

Stats: 15 games, 1 goal, 1 assist, 2 points (Philadelphia Flyers, NHL); 42 games, 7 goals, 19 assists, 26 points (Lehigh Valley Phantoms, AHL)

Mikhail Vorobyev got his first cup of coffee in the NHL last season. Though he wasn’t impressive in it, he’s still got a lot of potential. Plus, to be fair to him, it’s hard to impress when you’re on the fourth line and you’re playing less than 10 minutes per game.

Vorobyov was supposed to be the Flyers third-line center, but wasn’t given much of a chance. I think that’s right around his ceiling. If Vorobyov can improve his hockey sense, he could be a top-six forward. I like his two-way play, but he has to start being more of a leader on offense.

7. Philippe Myers

Acquired: Undrafted (Signed in 2015)

Age: 22

Position: Defenseman

Stats: 53 games, 9 goals, 24 assists, 33 points (Lehigh Valley Phantoms, AHL); 21 games, 1 goal, 1 assist, 2 points (Philadelphia Flyers, NHL)

Expect Philippe Myers to play a huge role on the Flyers during the 2019-20 season. Their moves this summer give him an open door to grab a spot in the lineup every night. He’s a huge guy (6’5″) who skates likes he’s at least three inches smaller.

I’m still not 100% sold on his offense, though. Myers has made strides in transition, but he’ll need to be paired with someone who excels there. He’s a smart player who has really improved in dealing with faster forwards.

The Flyers have been patient with Myers. Their patience should finally pay off this season. He has the potential to be a quality second-pairing defenseman.
