Seattle

Bruce Boudreau’s best fit could be with a team that doesn’t even exist yet. Seattle’s getting the 32nd NHL team and they could really use someone like Boudreau to help build a culture of winning. He has a vast resume filled with unique experiences that could help him with a one of a kind task.

This isn’t just about success. Seattle’s going to have to build something. For that to happen, they’re going to need someone who has credibility. With 13 NHL seasons behind the bench, Boudreau has the experience and credibility necessary to help build a winner in Seattle. Remember, he helped build a perennial contender (and eventual Stanley Cup Champion) in the Washington Capitals.

At 65 years old, Boudreau might only return behind the bench for a unique opportunity. What’s more unique than coaching an expansion team? Very few coaches can say they’ve done it. Of the available candidates, there’s only one with that experience – Gerard Gallant.

Gallant is undeniably a better candidate than Boudreau. However, he’ll have a long list of teams interested in him, so he might not be available for Seattle. If Gallant goes to another team, and I believe he will, Boudreau is by far the best candidate available for Seattle.
